Liam Neeson has given his narration to a feature-length documentary that challenges the legitimacy of immunizations and praises one-time cabinet secretary RFK Jr.
Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a popular book written by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the global outbreak for assertions that the illness was caused by a problematic version of the influenza shot.
Her writing partner, a producer, has also written books with controversial figure Alex Jones. Heckenlively took to social media praising Neeson's participation in the project.
A spokesperson for the actor have issued a response strongly denying implications that he subscribes to anti-vaccine views.
"We all acknowledge that misconduct can exist within the drug industry, but that should never be equated to rejection of vaccines," the statement reads. "He is not, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His extensive work with the UN children's agency reinforces his enduring support for global immunisation initiatives."
The response noted that the star did not shape the film's messaging and that concerns about its assertions ought to go to the producers.
According to the documentary, the script spoken by Neeson features several strong statements:
It further cites a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was afterwards the subject of a BBC apology by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.
Recently, Kennedy directed the national health agency to change its official position that there is no link between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is also referenced in the documentary, even with a fresh analysis from the global health body stating no such link has been found.
Standing in contrast to the film's narrative, Neeson has in the past shown strong support for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he referred to vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," stating that "The conversation about vaccines in recent years has forgotten how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" finishes with Neeson's narration saying, "This is not the end of our story. This is the start of a fresh chapter."
