Over 36,000 Sudanese citizens have evacuated since capture of El Fasher to Rapid Support Forces, reports UN agency

Over 36,000 civilians have evacuated from Sudan's Kordofan area eastern part of Darfur beginning Saturday, as stated by the UN's migration organization.

The key central region connecting the country's Darfur areas and the Khartoum-Riverine region has during recent weeks become the recent fighting area in the extended civil war between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary forces.

Significant Exodus Numbers

An calculated 36,825 people evacuated from five areas in North Kordofan state between 26 October and 31 October, according to the International Organization for Migration.

The civilians, most on foot, headed to Tawila, a town to the west of El Fasher that is currently accommodating in excess of 652,000 refugees.

Heightened Forces Deployment

Local inhabitants of North Kordofan on Monday reported a significant increase in both RSF and army presence across urban and rural areas throughout the state.

Both armed factions are competing for control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan regional capital and a key logistics and command center that joins Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have gathered at the Bara front here," said an RSF member in a recently circulated video message.

Area Citizens Detail Security Concerns

A local inhabitant of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, reported that the amount of RSF vehicles had risen substantially since the group's seizure of El Fasher.

"We stopped going to our farms, afraid of confrontations," the individual stated.

Another inhabitant, who requested anonymity for safety concerns, also indicated that "there has been a substantial growth in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the previous fortnight.

Global Warnings and Appeals

A senior UN official expressed concerns last week about "extensive crimes" and "race-driven revenge attacks" by RSF in Bara.

The diplomat alerted to patterns similar to those in Darfur, where RSF combatants have been charged with mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against certain racial groups.

The religious leader on Sunday called for an prompt truce and the establishment of relief routes in Sudan, stating that attacks on civilians and obstacles to humanitarian aid "are causing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's official envoy to Egypt on Sunday alleged RSF of carrying out war crimes in El Fasher and announced that the Sudanese government would not negotiate with the armed faction.

The diplomat further encouraged the global community to categorize the group as a terrorist organisation.
