Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his position following another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.
They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.
“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from the top,” Slot remarked.
“It's important to change things and secure a win obviously but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”
He added, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”
Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot explained:
“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”
He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”
Slot highlighted familiar weaknesses from his team in their European loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.
Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.
“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.
“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”
He continued, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”
“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell such as this with outcomes so bad.”
Jones concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we will always battle.”
“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the world.”
“But right now, things are bad and it must improve.”
