This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Mayor.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” Levine Cava said in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of pardons issued since the commencement of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a prosperous future without fear.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, contributed by a local firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The trend became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently named “6-7” its top term for the year.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to begin the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the character of Miami: happy, varied, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Each year, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and cafecito as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
