Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Police report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking political figure commented the attack rendered him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
